Simulating daylight by changing the colour temperature (Tunable White): lighting which is based on daylight noticeably promotes our performance curve. The Jung KNX / DALI gateway TW forms the interface for controlling DALI Tunable White luminaires and other DALI luminaires in a KNX installation. The colour temperature and brightness can thus be set independently or combined if required. The behaviour of an incandescent lamp can for example be readjusted by dimming down the colour temperature in warmer areas and dimming it up in colder areas. It is the first KNX device to offer this functionality to such an extent.

Apricum’s KNX power supply IPS640 with alarms, diagnostics and remote reset makes all actual values of current, voltage, telegram traffic and internal temperature available to the KNX bus system. Together with number counters and time counters for operation, alarm, overload, shortcircuit, device start-up and KNX bus reset, the course of operation can be documented in detail. The measurement alarms (after exceeding the threshold value) or operational status alarms (overload, short-circuit) can be configured by the user via ETS and allow fast troubleshooting. In total, there are 36 Group Objects available. The IPS640 requires only two modules on the DIN-rail, less than any other similar device.

RealKNX is the first KNX device certified for Google Assistant. Just activate Google Action, and all KNX functions (lights, blinds, heating, scenes, status, etc.) are translated for Google Assistant. Both Google Home and the mobile phones (Android + iOS) understand spoken sentences. On the other hand, it is possible to receive alerts by voice: A motion detector can “report” that someone is approaching the house. Triggering the smoke detector will alarm and indicate the escape route. With only one configuration through an ETS product entry, RealKNX additionally provides voice control via Siri and Alexa. It includes the powerful IoT and logic editor Node-RED and it is a full-fledged visualisation system.

The MAT uses eleven RGB LEDs and an acoustic signal to process physical variables and display critical states. The states of valves, blinds etc. (1 byte) are monitored as well as 2-byte and 4-byte objects with threshold value and hysteresis temperatures, volumes, pressure and voltages. The eleven inputs can be linked internally with the integrated buzzer with the help of the internal logic. The buzzer reacts to changes in the alarm state. It is acknowledged with the button. The change is visible through the LED ring and sent on the KNX. Several MATs can be cascaded via the bus and unnecessary acknowledgement buttons can be used as normal bus buttons.

Heating and cooling using KNX: The Gira 6-gang heating actuator with integrated controller facilitates the integration of heating and cooling systems into intelligent building technology with KNX. The heating actuator controls up to six heating or cooling circuits in the building. 230 V or 24 V thermal valve drives can be used as drives. Integrated room temperature controllers in the heating actuator mean that separate room temperature controllers are not needed in the respective rooms. In short: where a Gira KNX touch sensor 3 Plus with room temperature controller was previously needed, the cheaper touch sensor 3 Komfort can now be used.

To reduce the complexity for system integrators who are using KNX / DALI gateways in their projects, the NETx LaMPS module is now available. It eases the management of KNX / DALI gateways by providing an interface to initiate DALI testing independently from the KNX/DALI gateway vendor used. All DALI gateways / devices are represented in a uniform data point view as BMS Server Items, no matter which vendor they come from. Besides monitoring of operating hours, current and voltage, thresholds and alarms can also be defined. If no smart meters are available, a rough estimation of power and energy can be made. For comfortable handling, an automatic import from ETS5 using the NETx BMS App Secure is supported.

TAPKO’s new version of TP Line Coupler MECtp is able to process telegram filtering over the entire group address range. In the ETS, there is also a new parameter available for suppressing device configurations from secondary line to main line. Useful as a Line Coupler, Area Coupler or Line Repeater in any KNX network, the MECtp provides a data connection with galvanic isolation between two separate KNX TP bus lines. The MECtp supports long telegrams and is able to (selectively) suspend telegram filtering at the single press of a button. Convenient during commissioning, this short-time access to other lines is possible even without ETS. The suspension period can be set via an ETS parameter.

We at Qt think that developing should be fast, fun and easy. That’s why we introduced QtKnx to our Qt for Automation offer: to let you create high-performance, tailor-made and flexible UI’s for smart buildings. With the QtKnx library, you can integrate different functionalities (e.g. speech recognition) and technologies (e. g. BLE) allowing you to switch on a light with just a few lines of code. Based on C++, there are no limitations to hardware, software or operating systems. At Light + Building 2018, we will demonstrate a client implementation on how to control the lights in your home by using KNX as the communication protocol between the control board and lights.

With the AMUN 716 S KNX, Theben is presenting a new CO2 sensor for energy-efficient temperature control and for ventilation systems dependent on the room air quality. AMUN measures CO2 concentration, relative humidity, temperature and barometric air pressure. Thanks to three independently parameterisable thresholds for CO2 concentration and relative humidity, AMUN allows maximum air quality with minimum energy consumption. The integrated temperature controller allows, amongst other things, the control of actuators. With four binary inputs, AMUN can be flexibly integrated into any KNX installation.

Warema KNX actuators are DIN-rail mounted devices that can control between two and eight sun shading drives of 230 V AC or four sun shading drives of 24 V DC independently of each other. The easy-to-change miniature fuses are standard features and ensure the optimum line protection of the connected components. They are integrated directly in the actuator and offer significant assembly benefits because they require no external line protection. In order to guarantee the optimum energy utilisation, the manual control can be limited by the available automatic byte inputs.

“Siri, dim the lights in the living room” or “Siri, we’re going to bed” is now available for homes with KNX. xxter has created the KNX-Bridge “Pairot” in close coordination with Apple and is therefore allowed to officially proclaim that it “Works with Apple HomeKit”. Pairot is connected to the home network and the KNX installation and with simple configuration, the components in the home can be voice controlled with Siri and Amazon Echo. Siri, through Pairot, can easily control the available switches, dimmers, shutters and thermostats and can read sensor values like temperature, light intensity and humidity, of course only when these sensors are available in the home.

The leak sensor from JUNG detects leaks before they can cause major damage. Therefore the sensor must be simply connected with a 2-core cable to KNX push button interfaces and installed directly under baths, shower trays, washing machines, kitchen cabinets or boilers. If unwanted water escapes, the device signals it immediately and shuts off the water supply. The leak sensor therefore offers a high level of protection against water damage, saving time, money and your nerves. In Switzerland exclusively available from ZidaTech.

If you are looking for a price-optimised solution for single room regulation, then the KNX push button with room temperature sensor is the best choice. To measure the temperature in the living room, a feeler cable or an external temperature sensor can be attached to the KNX push-button at any time. Therefore the costs for expensive KNX room temperature sensors are dispensed with. If the temperature sensor is attached outside the KNX push button, the push button is also not influenced by the dissipated heat of the LEDs. The room temperature sensor can be mounted to save space on the wall and is programmed occurs via ETS. Contact: www.zidatech.ch
